Another day and another amazing Chef. Meet Chef Val Domingo. #savannah Chef with #Charleston roots and menus that are🔥. Read more about him, link in bio.
At age 14, Val entered officially entered into the culinary world as a dishwasher. Over the next 10 years, he would work under notable chefs like Daniel Barickman, Jose de Anciento, Kimberly Brock Brown, and Paul Ornstein, and Heath Prosser. Under these chefs, he would train, learn and execute each line line station from prep and pantry, baking and pastry, and then mastering each line station. During the course of time, he spent 4 years serving on a USN nuclear power submarine as a “mess specialist” that was named “Best submarine galley” amongst submarines on the east coast. At age 23, Chef Val earned his first Sous Chef position at the famous Charleston restaurant, “McCrady’s”, working under French Portuguese Michelin star chef, Jose D’ Anciento, who introduced truffles into the Charleston food scene as well as fusing classical French cuisine and Low Country Cuisine. Seeking to further his knowledge since he had no formal culinary school training, Val moved to the rising food city, Portland, Oregon. He would spend the next 6 years there educating himself on NW cuisine, eventually serving as opening Exec Sous Chef at Chef Paul Ornstein’s restaurant, “SouthPark,” a Spanish Mediterranean restaurant that received an award from Bon Appetit as “Best up and coming restaurant,” and at the the legendary restaurant, “Atwater’s”, located on the 39th floor of the US Bankcorp tower building that provided over the top cuisine, and stunning views of the entire city and Mt. Hood...
