Date night

Chef Michael did a date night 5 course menu for us when the kids went to bed (sort of went to bed!). It was as elegant, refined and amazing. The cauliflower soup with the hint of truffle was wonderful. The creative steak tartare designed for look like a Big Mac was innovative and tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly. What an amazing restaurant quality menu, at home, in a relaxed environment. He even helped us select the perfect wine to complement. A true genius in the kitchen. Highly recommend.

Incredible 60th birthday for my sister!

I cannot rave enough on our whole experience with Chef Michael and Chef Graham. All 5 courses were delicious. Michael’s presentation was beautiful. The portions were more than enough. He and Graham were very engaging. We had a party of 9 and will definitely request them again. Thank you for helping make my sisters birthday!

I have used private chefs in the past and have always had good experiences. This experience was by far the best. Food was fantastic and chefs were extremely professional. Kitchen was spotless when they left !

We had an amazingly crafted family dinner with Michael and his team. They were so friendly and personable and made the group very happy with the flavourful and inventive food. We all loved the experience and couldn’t stop talking about their talents and how they really got the vision we had. I had numerous conversations with Michael and was impressed with his calmness, quick responses, and how easy he made the entire process. To walk in to the kitchen and have zero work to do after the fact was a great surprise! Everyone commented on how they left it cleaner than they found it and shrieked in happiness when we found that the dishes had also been dried and put away. That was a great touch 🙂 I recommend this team to anyone looking for a memorable experience.

We had a P.J. Party with 6 ladies and Michael & Drew came to cook….presented with a few obstacles at our rental house( including) gas running out stove) but we had an AWESOME MEAL…..Super Great Job! Thank you Michael & Drew!😊

We had Mike and Mike over for an 8+ family gathering pre-Thanksgiving. What a FABULOUS experience. We had some that wanted an interactive experience and stayed in the kitchen with them and some of the younger crowd wandered in and out. They will taylor the experience to suit your needs. Suffice it to say the food was outstanding! We learned a lot and they could not have been nicer. So easy to work with and our kitchen was cleaner when they left. Overall a SUPERB event – food, personalities and lessons. Top notch guys!

I called last minute (seriously – last minute) to surprise my wife for our anniversary and Food Fire + Knives rocked it! Mike served an unbelievable, fresh, and absolutely delicious Italian-inspired meal right in our kitchen. A delightfully pleasant and outgoing chef, Mike taught us as he cooked and we had an amazing anniversary dinner. So – in summary: 1) Incredibly responsive. 2) They aim to please even the pickiest of clients (ie. – me). 3) The food was delicious. 4) Save room for dessert! My goodness! I cannot recommend Food Fire + Knives or Mike enough. If you want to hit a home run – call these guys!

Chef Michael was wonderful! We hired him for a ladies beach weekend and it was a fun filled evening with lots of great teaching and delicious food! He brought everything to the house and worked with the space we had in the kitchen. I’m planning on hiring him again when I return to Charleston. Highly recommend!

Food Fire + Knives was the perfect activity to make our Charleston experience memorable! As the host of a bachelorette party, this was the perfect event. After ordering exactly what I wanted for the group online (so easy!) I received a confirmation email shortly after. Leading up to the event, the business was communicative and organized! The chef was great — he was professional, showed up on time, and cooked a delicious meal – taking into account all dietary restrictions. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and kinder business! Absolutely must-do when visiting Charleston with a group.

Loved our evening with chef(s) Michael. We had a group of 12 girls and chose a Mexican theme with a variety of gourmet tacos, rice and beans. We did the Chef Now in home experience with Italian chef Michael. What an awesome experience and the food Michael prepared was second to none. He was very fun and unselfish answering questions we had. May have been the highlight of our month long Charleston visit this year. We’re going to do it again when we have special guests in the area

If you are in the Charleston area, be sure to take a class from Mike! He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient (there were nine of us!) and made cooking so much fun! We chose a Mexican/taco theme and learned how to cook several different types of tacos as well as a seriously amazing guacamole dip! Thanks, Mike, for an awesome night!

Amazing food for one night, lots of fun and a lifetime of better food….what’s not to like!

A group of friends and I (4 total) had Mike and Jordan over for a “post college cooking” class. We learned how to dice vegetables, cut and use an entire chicken, and make a few sides. One minute we were learning how to hold a knife and the next we were preparing a five star meal in a french restaurant. Mike brings a ton of experience to the kitchen and more importantly he was a great communicator. We all learned a ton and by the end of the night I had a few pages of notes!

But more important than my new found cooking style was Mike’s ability to make us laugh. Not sure if it was Mike’s stories or our cooking skills, but we were laughing and having fun all night. My cooking is much better but the best part of the night was the memorable experience Mike created for my friends and I.

Thanks Mike and Jordan, I can’t wait to see you guys again.


How to Hire a Private Chef for Your Event

  • Pick a place, date, and time.
  • Select your chef and menu. (Each chef offers different menus which are fully a la carte. Simply choose the dishes you want for your occasion.)
  • Add details like the number of guests and any special instructions.
  • Pay for your reservation. Make any changes or even cancel up to a week before your event for a refund.
  • After you’ve made a reservation, the private chef you’ve hired will reach out within 48 hours to confirm the details and coordinate their arrival.
  • If you’ve added any special dietary restrictions or event instructions, they’ll work with you to implement those.
  • Your chef will arrive with everything they need, including ingredients, cooking equipment, and cleaning supplies. All you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the day with your guests.
  • The cleanup is included too! Hire a private chef with us and know that we’ll likely leave your kitchen cleaner than when you gave it to us.

Our Top FAQs

1. Can I customize the menu?

Absolutely! All our menus are fully a la carte. Once you’ve decided on a chef, you’ll see a list of all the dishes they offer and you can choose the ones you’d like for your event.

2. How is your service priced?

You pay a fixed price per guest based on your menu, plus a small, all-inclusive booking fee to our platform. You’ll be able to see exactly what you’re paying when you make a booking. No hidden costs, ever.

3. How many guests can I invite?

As many as you like! Although for events with over 30 people, we ask that you reach out to us to make an event inquiry.

4. My group has multiple dietary restrictions

That’s absolutely fine! When finalizing your menu, please mention these under ‘Special Instructions.’ For instance, you can specify that you’d like to accommodate one vegan guest and one gluten-free guest for your at-home catering and your private chef will prepare suitable dish variants for those guests.

5. Can I make changes to the menu or guest list?

Yes! You can make any changes to your booking. You can even cancel it up to a week before your event, and you’ll receive a refund.

6. Is my event insured?

Yes, it is. Our service includes full insurance for your private chef in case of any mishaps.

7. How are the Chefs chosen?

Each chef is fully vetted. We require at minimum one year of sous chef experience. Your chef has gone through an FCRA compliant background check and multiple interviews before joining our platform.

8. What is FFKs cancellation and refund policy?

We take pre-payment to secure your chef and simplify our service. No fumbling with payments after your event or dealing with multiple payments in different stages of the process. Much like our service, our return policy is simple and meant to protect you, our hosts and our amazing Chefs.
  • One week or more before your event we guarantee your refund.
  • During the week of your event we offer a 50% refund.
  • We will not be able to refund within 48 hours of your event. At this point your chef has not been available for other parties and has already planned for your event. *Please note all refunds are less processing and booking fees
